Iggy Azalea shares her new song, Started. Available for download and streaming on your favorite platforms, Iggy has been prepping fans for the release of her album In My Defense. Her latest drop titled Started is a follow up to her hit tune, Sally Walker.
Iggy Azalea hit up Instagram with an on-set shot of herself alongside drag queen icon Tracy Martel. The 28-year-old has always been a visual artist, but she has taken it to the next level since going independent. That trend looks set to continue with “Started.” The second single from In My Defense arrives on Friday (May 3) and Iggy has been teasing the visual with a series of already-iconic images.
Produced by J. White (“Sally Walker”), the unapologetic banger finds Iggy delivering brash rhymes aimed at her haters. “I started from the bottom and now I’m rich,” raps Iggy. “I started to say sorry, but fuck that shit / You started out hatin’, now you love my drip.”
Along with the song, Iggy debuted an extravagant video in which she plays a blonde bombshell, who inherits her wealthy sugar daddy’s riches when he passes away. “Started is the best video I’ve ever made,” she told fans.
The visual sees one way of accomplishing that, with Azalea marrying a rich old man for his money.
As the video continues, Azalea slowly starts to grow tired of her new beau and their relationship. That is, until another version of herself and drag superstar Trixie Mattel appear in an infomercial for a poison cake mix to kill a sugar daddy. “If your name’s in his will and you want your bread/ Call 1-833-DADDYS-DEAD,” the pair sing.
