Jacob Nana Kwame Etroo, musically known as Quata Budukusu, was born on 4th June 1981. He started his musical career by combining Root African vibes and native Twi and inventing a unique style of rap genre called TONGUE TWISTING – a rhythmic chain of words in the fastest way one could run a tongue with words musically with a perfected style and skill on a beat. He is regarded, in Ghana, as the inventor of tongue-twisting in Twi, a super accomplished songwriter, and the most versatile artist who does every genre of music perfectly. Quata Budukusu can rap, sing, do dancehall, pop music, and much more.
In 2004, Quata Budukusu released his debut album, WONIE that took over Ghana with a traditional video that went viral on Channel O. He immediately became a compound name with all the hit songs he featured onwards: K.K. Fosu’s OGA, Tinny’s ALETSE. He also featured on MzBel’s TURN ME ON, featured on Becca’s YOU LIED TO ME high life mix, as well as featuring on J.A. Adofo’s MENKO M’NIGYE. Quata Budukusu is the first rap artiste Kojo Antwi, the maestro, featured on ESU NKETSENKETSE from his SEBO album. Quata Budukusu is like a phantom presence felt to the fullest yet invisible.
Quata Budukusu took a break and return with the INDEPENDENCE Album which featured hit songs like BABY, the first English and Twi pop song, and PRETTY FACE featuring VIP which became the biggest launch in the history of Hiplife music in Ghana. On 18 August 2017, Quata Budukusu released Quantum Riddim, distributed by VPAL music, the distribution wing of VP records. Quantum Riddim is a 13-tracked album delivered on just a single beat. The release of Quantum Riddim was historic since no one has ever recorded 13 songs using same beat/riddim.
