eNEWS: CHRIS BROWN GUN CASE MAY BE DROPPED

There may be some good news on the horizon for Chris Brown in his assault with a deadly weapon case.

According to insiders, the District Attorney has not been impressed with evidence gathered by law enforcement officials thus far, according to TMZ.

The case was meant to go to prosecutors two weeks ago, but was sent back due to lack of evidence. Authorities received a two-week extension, however no new evidence was uncovered in that time.

In late August, the case was launched when former Miss California Baylee Curran claimed Brown threatened her with a gun. Following a standoff with police, the R&B singer proclaimed his innocence.

Law enforcement insiders believe the case is about to be closed. So far, they have been going off of Baylee Curran’s allegation alone. However, they’ve been unable to pin evidence on Brown. During the standoff, Brown threw a duffel bag out of his window. The bag contained two guns, but authorities are concerned that neither can be linked to the Royalty crooner.

Brown has history with the prosecutors, who wanted him jailed various times while he was on probation for the Rihanna assault case. However, District Attorney sources claim Brown’s past is not relevant to this gun case.

Legal troubles could continue if the case goes to the L.A. City Attorney for misdemeanor assault prosecution, but the case may not be strong enough there either.

The incident has affected Brown in various ways. Last month, he was denied entry into Japan due, at least in part, to the ongoing investigation. Then, officials from the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services visited Brown in order to check on his two-year-old daughter Royalty, a move his camp believes was sparked by the gun case.

“I cannot wait till the truth comes to light about this incident and this situation,” Brown said last month. “You know, because my character’s been defaced and who I am as a person and [my] integrity… I’m glad all my real supporters know me and know the truth and see the truth.”
