The lyrics were written by John A. Ilechukwu, Eme Etim Akpan, B. A. Ogunnaike, Sota Omoigui and P.O. Aderibigbe.
It was adopted in 1978 and performed by the Nigerian Police Band under the directorship of B. E. Odiasse
