Here is The Weeknd – Take My Breath (download). This is the latest single from the Award winning Canadian music star, a collaboration with the Tokyo Olympics.
Following up his Ariana Grande assited remix to Save Your Tears, the new song comes in conjunction with the ongoing Olympics held in Tokyo.
The initial teaser was titled “The Dawn Is Coming,” and it serves as the introduction to his next album cycle post–After Hours. “fuck it … IT STARTS TONIGHT,” he teased before the song’s release. The Weeknd said the new record is “the album [he’s] always wanted to make” in a new interview with Mark Anthony Green in GQ. Green describes the album as “Quincy Jones meets Giorgio Moroder meets the best-night-of-your-fucking-life party records.”
Takimg to social media to drop another teaser visual for the song which features Team USA’s Tokyo Olympics competitors Sydney McLaughlin, Dalilah Muhammad, Athing Mu and Gabby Thomas. The women of the track and field team can be heard celebrating their and each other’s successes, as well giving words of wisdom to everyone who wants to dream big.
Abel Tesfaye recently confirmed that he is now indeed “sober lite,” meaning he has sworn off hard drugs. The Weeknd confirms that he still drinks occasionally, and smokes weed, but as for other drugs, like the coke evoked in “Can’t Feel My Face,” he’s done. “No. Drugs were a crutch. It was me thinking that I needed it. And not doing the work to figure out how not to need it,” he says. “And I’ve spent the last few years realizing that and thanking God that I don’t need it. Because for a lot of people, it’s hard to shake it. But I knew I didn’t want it.”
