Michael Owen has analysed Liverpool’s defeat against Brighton.
Liverpool were surprisingly beaten by Brighton 0-1. This was their second slip up at Anfield after the 0-1 against Burnley and, if there is no big comeback, it’s almost goodbye to their chances of lifting the Premier League.
The setback has generated a lot of criticism of Jürgen Klopp’s side, most of it directed at the work of a midfield that is not performing as well as desired.
Club legend Michael Owen took aim in this direction and fired back at the lack of different players in the Merseyside engine room.
“They have a lot of samey players in midfield in Thiago, Wijnaldum and Milner”, the ex-England striker said.
In the same way, the former Reds player emphasised Liverpool’s difficulties against teams in the bottom half of the table. “I don’t fear for them against Manchester City or against better teams. It’s against packed defenders that I think they’re running out of ideas”, he ended.
