A snippet of a rerecorded version of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” was shown in a Match.Com advert.

The singer is currently in the process of rerecording her first six albums following the sale of her masters rights to music manager Scooter Braun.

While it is unclear when the new versions will be released, Swift allowed her listeners a preview on Wednesday (2 December), as a clip from the song was featured in an advert shared by actor Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds posted the advert for dating website Match.com on social media, with the promotional video showing Satan falling in love with a human named “2020” while Swift’s “Love Story” plays in the background.

However, fans quickly noticed that the song playing was not the 2008 original version, but a more mature-sounding one, leading them to speculate that the advert contained Swift’s previously unheard rerecording.

“RYAN REYNOLDS POSTED AN AD FOR MATCH DOT COM AND IT USES WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE RE RECORDED VERSION OF LOVE STORY!!!!!,” one fan tweeted.

The news was confirmed by Swift, who wrote on Twitter:

“Okay so while my new re-records are NOT done, my friend @VancityReynolds asked me if he could use a snippet of one for a LOLsome commercial he wrote so…here’s a sneak peak of Love Story! Working hard to get the music to you soon!!”

Last month, Swift declared her intention to keep rerecording her old music after Braun reportedly asked her to sign an “ironclad” non-disclosure agreement before discussing selling the rights to Swift’s back catalogue back to her.

He then sold them to private equity firm Shamrock Holdings for a reported $300m (£226m), but in a letter sent from Swift to Shamrock, the singer claimed that she would not work with them as Braun would allegedly still profit from the catalogue for “many years”.

“It’s a shame to know that I will now be unable to help grow the future of these past works and it pains me very deeply to remain separated from the music I spent over a decade creating, but this is a sacrifice I will have to make to keep Scooter Braun out of my life,” Swift wrote.
