Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson injury joins Klopp’s list

Liverpool's Jordan Henderson Injury adds to Klopp's headache

Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson has been injured and now joins the growing list of absent players for Jurgen Klopp.

English Premier league title holder’s captain was forced out of England’s defeat in Belgium.

Liverpool are already without defenders Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold and midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while there is no guarantee Fabinho or Thiago Alcantara will be fit in time for the match against Leicester City.

Henderson was substituted as a precaution after complaining of a problem during the half-time break in the 2-0 UEFA Nations League reverse in Leuven on Sunday evening.

He will undergo a further assessment on Monday morning when England return to St George’s Park to begin preparations for Wednesday’s Wembley clash with Iceland.

“Jordan had a bit of tightness at half-time and felt he couldn’t carry on,” said England boss Gareth Southgate.

Liverpool have been dealt a number of injury concerns during the international break, most notably Joe Gomez who has had surgery on a serious knee injury and is facing a battle to play again this season.

Mohamed Salah tested positive for coronavirus while with Egypt and is a major doubt for Leicester.

While Andy Robertson sat out Scotland’s UEFA Nations League loss in Slovakia on Sunday with a hamstring problem.

Henderson is almost certain to miss the match, with the Three Lions now unable to qualify for next year’s finals and not under threat of relegation from the top tier of the competition.

Posting on Instagram after the match, Henderson did not mention any issues as he said: “Disappointing result tonight, but still some positives we can take from the performance.
“We learn and keep moving forward!”
