He hadn’t decided whether or not to say yes to Chelsea, and it was a special message from manager Frank Lampard that persuaded him in the end. He sent the centre-back a photo of both of them on the pitch.
Thiago Silva revealed it in a recent interview.
‘When I was about to sign with Chelsea when I said ok, he sent me a message with a photo of us shaking hands as captains at the Maracana, in the friendly between Brazil and England,’ said Thiago Silva.
“I hope to do the best I can at Chelsea. It is an honour to play for them and to be coached by one of the best midfielders in history. He is amazing to have in the changing room, to exchange ideas, and to help out wherever he can”, he added.
