Real Madrid reduce Gareth Bale transfer fee as Man Utd show interest

Real Madrid reportedly reduce asking price for Gareth Bale as they look to take the winger off their wage bill.

The Welsh international is due to return to the Bernabeu following international duty, but he is set for a season on the sidelines if he fails to secure a move away with Zinedine Zidane deeming him surplus to requirements.

Bale claims Madrid are making it “very difficult” for him to leave, but are now willing to adjust their asking price to facilitate his exit.

Mundo Deportivo claim Madrid are willing to accept just £22million for Bale.

The 31-year-old’s wages will still prove a problem, but the report also states that he is willing to drop his demands significantly in order to play football.

Man Utd are said to be interested in Bale, but their priority remains Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

Tottenham have also been linked with their former player. Former Real Madrid president Roman Calderon recently claimed an unnamed English club bid £89million for Bale close to deadline day last year.

That followed the Spanish club’s decision to thwart Bale’s mega-money move to a Chinese Super League side.
