Spain and Italy are taking actions as As COVID-19 cases begin to rise once more. Both countries’ governments have made the decision to close nightclubs after only just allowing them to reopen.
On August 14, Spain’s Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, announced that the country would be closing clubs again to prevent further spread of COVID-19. Fines will be given to those who organize illegal gatherings, and all bars have been given a new 1:00 AM curfew.
On August 17, Italy followed suit, announcing that clubs would be closed until at least early September. Italy has been the subject of controversy lately on social media, following the circulation of several videos showing packed crowds partying with Charlotte de Witte, Nina Kraviz, and Adam Beyer, among other DJs.
As ravers raved, Italy’s new, confirmed COVID-19 case count more than doubled in the past three weeks. Now, masks are mandated between the hours of 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM in all areas surrounding clubs and bars.
