Kanye West already missed key deadlines after announcing his presidential run

Kanye West has announced that he’s running for US president in 2020, but he’s already missed some important deadlines. Kanye West has already missed the deadline in multiple states for filing his campaign with the Federal Election Committee (FEC), and he’s missed the deadlines to register as an independent candidate in multiple states, including North Carolina, Texas, New York, Maine, and others.

According to Ballotpedia, Kanye failed to register as an independent candidate in North Carolina by 3 March, May 11 in Texas and 26 May in New York.

He has also missed the deadline in Maine (1 June), New Mexico (25 June) and Indiana, which requires independent candidates to register by 30 June.

However, he is still eligible to register in states such as South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, Colorado and Michigan where the deadlines fall in July.

The rapper/designer originally announced that he’d run for president in 2020 back in 2015, and has floated the idea around in recent years.

Over the weekend, Kanye West reaffirmed his commitment on Twitter, writing, “We must now realise the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk appeared in a photo with West a few days before, and responded, “You have my full support!”
