Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury II (Rematch): Highlights

Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury (Rematch): Highlights

Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury will contest a rematch of an incredible bout that ended in a split draw back in December 2018.

Fury and Wilder are both undefeated in their careers, with the lone blemish on either’s record the draw from their first bout. Wilder is 42-0-1 with a knockout in all but one of those wins. Fury is 29-0-1 with 20 knockouts.

Deontay Wilder made it known that he only showcased half of his full potential the first time he met Tyson Fury in 2018. This rematch was to prove a point by the bronze bomber.

“I was anxious and overly excited in the first fight. It wasn’t me. It was 50 percent. This time it’s going to be all me, and people can expect a knockout in devastating fashion and nothing but greatness,” Wilder told BoxingScene.com in an interview. “I love to be who I am and the mindset that I have. I can turn boxing on or off as needed.”

Wilder, 34, is America’s hardest-hitting heavyweight and the reigning WBC champion who defends his world title on Saturday, February 22 against Tyson Fury in the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas.

Unbeaten in 43 fights, Wilder has won 42 times with 41 of those wins coming by knockout. The only blemish on his record is a draw, which was announced the last time he fought Fury at the Staples Center in Los Angeles 14 months ago.

Fury’s trainer Javan ‘Sugarhill’ Steward did not argue that Tyson Fury was heading injury-free into the match.

He said: “I don’t wanna argue with Eddie Hearn or anybody that’s saying that Tyson’s injured and stuff like that.“Unfortunately, I hurt both legs, and both ankles, in the training camp. But it’s not going to affect me in the fight because that was at the beginning of camp. It was an unnecessary accident, but, you know, things happen.”

“With Tyson, he could be [injured], could be or maybe not. Nobody comes into a fight 100 percent. So that’s just being honest.”

Tyson Fury went a step further to explain that he was suffering from leg injuries. However, Fury assured that his injuries have healed.
He said: “Unfortunately I hurt both legs, and both ankles, in the training camp. But it’s not going to affect me in the fight because that was at the beginning of camp. It was an unnecessary accident, but, you know, things happen.”
