Dark Lo drops new album, American Made. Available for download and streaming, the new nusic project holds 12 tracks with featires from Benny The Butcher, Dajah Monae and nore.
The concept is based on a rough experience Lo had as a kid.
“When I was 11 or 12, a friend of mine was killed by gunfire that wasn’t meant for him,” Lo tells HipHopDX. “When my classmates and I cried in class the next day and asked God why, our teacher made a statement to us and told us we were ‘American Made’ — and there wasn’t much we could do about it, because our slave masters trained us to hate each other for centuries.
“The teacher then referred us to a book about the Willie Lynch [white slave owner] speech and at a very young age, I understood that my people had been stripped of everything — our culture, our last names, and so much more. That makes us ‘American Made.’”
