Sleater-Kinney releases The Center Won’t Hold (Album). Available for download and streaming, the new music project holds 11 songs. Produced by Annie Clark (better known as St. Vincent), “The Center Won’t Hold” retains much of the familiar grit and head-spinning yelps of the band’s seminal work, but now the personal and political revelations are delivered with a punch of glitter.
The long-running Northwest indie-rock trio nearly fell apart making its ninth studio album. In the end, drummer Janet Weiss, who had provided the band with its punky backbeat since 1996, left, leaving singer-guitarists Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker to present Sleater-Kinney’s new direction to the world.
