Pressa releases his new song, Who Did It. Pressa takes on Murda Beatz’ trunk-rattling production as he details his experience in the streets of Toronto and rising from the trap to where he is today.
Pressa—whose moniker derives from his father’s nickname Prestige— is a third-generation Jane and Finch resident. The neighborhood has a history of gangs, violence, and poverty but is a product of much larger factors at play, mainly that of “ghettoization.” Where gentrification.
Influenced by everyone from Michael Jackson and Tupac to 50 Cent and Bob Marley, it hasn’t always been like this for the up-and-coming rapper. Growing up in an area notorious for its history of gang violence and poverty, and with a father currently serving life in prison. it would’ve been easy for Pressa to follow in his pops’ footsteps, and carry on the life he was living before music.
