Big Sean is back with a new song titled Overtime. It has been a while since we heard new music from the rapper. Back in March, he said he simply felt compelled to “take a break.” Even the music, which was my happiness, my joy, always an escape for me, that was starting to feel like a burden,” he revealed. “Starting to feel like a job.”
Overtime was produced by Hit-Boy & Key Wane & The Tucker Brothers. Talking about the song, Big Sean had this to say:
In a sense, I just been returning to my roots, bro,” Sean tells Zane about the song. “I’ve just been getting back to having fun with it. You know what I’m saying? At one point I felt like it might have started to become like a burden, or like work, but now it’s just fun. So this is just me having fun bro, expressing myself. It was a time well spent. I never really knew how important it was to take some time for myself and get myself right. And it takes a while so it can take … That’s something you can’t really put on a time schedule. But you know, throughout that whole time I’ve been working on music so it is good to get it out. It is good for people to just finally see where we are because I got so much just ready for the world. It’s deeper than just putting music out. It’s like I feel like I got a lot to say that a lot of people may not be addressing right now. You know what I’m saying? As far as just emotions and feelings that a lot of people are going through.”
