Lil Nas X delivers as promised a new Old Town Road (Remix) featuring Young Thug & Mason Ramsey. Available for download and streaming on your favorite platforms, the original country-rap record dominated the charts for 14 weeks. The remix is one that’s been teased since April. It’s also something that marks the moment Lil Nas X gets to work with one of his heroes. Speaking with Time in March, the rapper credited Young Thug for helping pioneer country-trap.
“The song is country trap. It’s not one, it’s not the other. It’s both. It should be on both [charts],” Nas X said of “Old Town Road” in the interview. “I believe whenever you’re trying something new, it’s always going to get some kind of bad reception. For example, when rap started, or when rock and roll began. But with country trap, I in no way want to take credit for that. I believe Young Thug would be one of the biggest pioneers in that.”
The latest of edition of the record-breaking single also features viral teen sensation Mason Ramsey, also known as the “The Walmart Yodeling Boy” for his widely-seen YouTube videos. The basis of the song remains the same with verses from Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus. Thugger adds his own flair to the track on the third verse.
Mason’s verse is the best and he kills it? “If you ain’t got no giddy up/Then giddy out my way?”
