Alfie Arcuri shares a new single he titles “Same.” Available for download and streaming on your favorite platforms, Arcuri’s latest song also arrives alongside its music video. The Voice 2016 winner makes a comeback with new song Same after fighting for a YEAR to release it.
‘We got blocked [from doing anything with the song] for a year because they loved the song that much,’ the 31-year-old told The Daily Telegraph on Thursday. Alfie explained that he battled with producers who wanted an international artist to sing it instead of him.
‘We were in this tug-of-war for a year because they wanted to pitch it to one of their artists and I wanted to release it myself as it is one of my favourite tracks. Finally I kind of won and I have released it,’ he said.
‘The last three years I have worked my a**e off to try and make this career work and stay relevant. I can’t imagine doing anything else,’ he added.
The singer wrote the track while visiting Los Angeles 18 months ago, and explained that it’s about losing your first love and ‘replacing them with a rebound’. The architect now lives in Sydney’s Elizabeth Bay with his boyfriend Ash Frenken and their five-month-old puppy, Gary, and cat Priscilla – who they adopted from Delta Goodrem, 34, when she moved back to LA last year.
Alfie Arcuri previously revealed that he only gained the courage to come out as gay to his family three years before competing on The Voice aged 24. His fear of coming out to his family was so great that he even prepared himself for the reality that they may not accept him at all.
‘I prepared myself to be alone as an adult,’ Alfie told TV WEEK in 2016. ‘I just couldn’t imagine my family accepting me as being gay.’But he was comforted by their unflinching support, saying: ‘My family was absolutely amazing. I would have come out a lot earlier if I’d known how they’d react,’ he added.
