Vampire Weekend return with a new album titled “Father Of The Bride.” Made available for download and streaming, Vampire Weekend dropped four tracks from Father of the Bride: Sunflower, Big Blue, “Harmony Hall” and “2021.” The title of the 18-track follow-up to 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City was picked by singer Ezra Koenig several years ago, according to a press release announcing the project, before “recent significant developments in his life,” a seeming allusion to the singer’s welcoming of a child with longtime partner actress/director Rashida Jones last summer.
The group promised that four more singles would be released ahead of the record. Last month, “Harmony Hall” received an Emmett Malloy-directed music video starring Jonah Hill, producer Ariel Rechtshaid, Blood Orange’s Devonté Hynes, Danielle Haim, a snake, and Ezra Koenig.
In addition to the new songs, Vampire Weekend have shared the cover art and release date of their new record. The new songs are the third and fourth we’ve heard from the double album, after the previously released songs. Vampire Weekend will embark on a tour soon after the release of Father Of The Bride. Soccer Mommy, Angélique Kidjo, Chicano Batman and more are set to open.
