Kero Kero Bonito releases 2 new singles titled “Swimming/The Open Road“. Both tracks are taken from their sophomore album Time ‘n’ Place as well as a brand new track as side B. As its title suggests it, “The Open Road” depicts a hectic and adventurous road trip. Hazy, slightly fuzzy, and definitely sweet, this glittering new offering sounds a bit like a crossroad between their dance-y pop debut and their recent lo-fi turn.
In 2018, the trio unveiled their sophomore album Time ‘n’ Place via Polyvinyl Records, a noisy, unexpected follow-up to their delightfully bubble-gummy debut Bonito Generation. While “The Open Road” definitely sounds like it belongs on their most recent record, it’s still full of the electro-pop elements that make it seem better-suited for a dreamy journey through the sky than any old road trip.
