Maverick Sabre – Slow Down ft. Jorja Smith (mp3 download)
UK Singer Maverick Sabre delivers his new song “Slow Down” featuring Jorja Smith off Maverick’s forthcoming album When I Wake Up.
Accompanying the audio release is the new video is directed by Rashid Babiker (who worked on Jorja’s “On Your Own” and “Teenage Fantasy” videos) and finds Maverick in the role of a cab-driver and Jorja as a customer who gets into his car. They sing together as the ride goes on, seemingly developing an unspoken bond even in their temporal roles as driver and rider.
The camera follows Sabre singing the first couple of verses while driving through the night, and the beat-dropping chorus lines up with him coming to a screeching stop as Smith enters the scene. Midway through, the song and the colors fade out as the video captures a dramatic black-and-white silhouetted sequence, ultimately ending on a cliffhanger, which leaves the viewer asking the question that the song seems to be hinting at all along.
“The video inspired by the lyrics in the song represents two people, both in a similar experience expressing honestly, unfiltered, how they feel. The question we wanted to leave open was whether these two characters in the story are connected or not and if that even matters, what does is no matter what experience/situation you are in there is someone else who is feeling the exact same way,” these two said in a statement about the story.
