Weezer – Weezer (Teal Album)
Weezer release a surprise 10 track new album entitled “Weezer (Teal Album)“. The band was inspired to release a cover album after their cover of Toto’s “Africa” proved to be a huge success. They’re not permanently becoming a cover band, though, so you can stop fantasy wedding planning right now. Weezer (The Teal Album) is just the precursor to an album of all original songs called Weezer (The Black Album) that is set to be released on March 1, with a tour alongside the Pixies starting later that month.
The tracklist comprises mainly of 80s-themed covers, kicking off with the band’s chart-topping version of Toto’s “Africa” and also featuring renditions of Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World”, The Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)”, a-ha’s “Take On Me”, and Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”. Other notable covers include Electric Light Orchestra’s “Mr. Blue Sky”, Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”, and TLC’s “No Scrubs”.
The new music project is available on all your favorite streaming and download platforms.
