H.E.R. shares the remix to “Could’ve Been Southside” featuring BJ The Chicago Kid. BJ The Chicago Kid has loaned his vocals to a handful of dope features over the last few years, but we haven’t gotten an album from him in ages. BJ takes the place of Bryson Tiller on the remix, leaving his own personal experience on the track. His verse adds a little refresher on the single, although there was nothing wrong with the original.
There was a four-year gap between his albums Pineapple Now-Laters (2012) and In My Mind (2016), so it’s possible that we won’t get a new project from the crooner for another year if he sticks to that model. Although he hasn’t come through with a new song entirely, BJ has delivered a “Southside Remix” to H.E.R.’s “Could’ve Been.” The “Southside Remix” is a quick remedy for those looking for new BJ music, but nothing more.
