Listen to new project titled “Double Down” by Big K.R.I.T. Big K.R.I.T. has just touched down with his second project of the year, and of the month. Earlier in November, K.R.I.T. dropped off Thrice X, a three-song EP that reintroduced him as the lyrical king of the south. Now, he’s blessed fans with a second surprise, Double Up. We’ll attribute K.R.I.T.’s giving mood to the holiday season, and there is no better gift that he can give fans than more music.
Double Down is even briefer than Thrice X, running for only two tracks. “Learned From Texas” and “Pick Yourself Up sound like polar opposites at least, giving fans a range within the short playlist. As the title suggests, “Learned From Texas” is an ode to the southern state. A bouncy bass and chopped and screwed vocals douse listeners in that Texas vibe.
“Pick Yourself Up,” on the other hand, sounds like an old-school banger from the heart of the South. The warped organs are reminiscent of a Master P hit, but the Isley Brother’s “Between The Sheets” sample is the highlight of the single.
