Rapper Mac Miller, Ariana Grande‘s ex-boyfriend is dead.

How did Mac Miller die?

Mac Miller was found dead in his Studio City, Calif., home on Friday of an apparent overdose. He was 26

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Mac was found Friday around noon in a bedroom at his San Fernando Valley home, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities were alerted by a male friend who placed a 911 call from Mac’s home. The emergency dispatch audio reveals first responders were called for a patient in cardiac arrest.

Miller, whose real name is Malcolm James McCormick, had struggled with substance abuse in the past. Just last month, the Los Angeles Attorney’s Office officially charged the rapper with a DUI stemming from a car accident in May in the San Fernando Valley.

Mac Miller had been open about his struggles previously, referencing drug abuse and death in his music, particularly in the largely autobiographical 2014 mixtape “Faces.”

Mac Miller Ariana Grande:

After his relationship with Ariana Grande sadly crashed, Ariana made it clear his substance abuse had been a deal breaker in their 2-year relationship.

After the rapper wrecked his G-Wagon by wrapping it around a utility pole back in May and was arrested for DUI and hit and run. Some people blamed Ariana for Mac’s DUI, and she responded,

“I am not a babysitter or a mother and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to support his sobriety & prayed for his balance for years.” She added, “Of course I didn’t share about how hard or scary it was while it was happening but it was.”

A profile of Mac was just published Thursday by Vulture. He told Vulture in the profile:

“I used to rap super openly about really dark s—. That’s what I was experiencing at the time. That’s fine, that’s good, that’s life. It should be all the emotions.”

Mac Miller was supposed to start a tour next month. May his soul rest in peace.
