Vic Mensa shares a new song titled Metaphysical. Over a percussive, guitar-driven instrumental, an autotune-drenched Mensa spits game to a potential love interest; no longer is he coming through with the bars, but rather dedicating himself to the whims of “the ladies,” as per his IG.
It’s certainly an unexpected stylistic departure for Mensa, though not entirely unwelcome. The song is ultimately catchy, and his melodic chops are solid enough. Vic has found himself tapping into the island breeze, finding himself on veering toward the dancehall tip; it’s hard to classify this one as anything other than Vic’s most radio-friendly single.
