XXXTentacion death hit the rap music world in a way that hasn’t been seen in a very long time. An artist who likely hadn’t even reached the peak of his talent, his loss has affected everybody differently.
One person who really took the tragedy to heart is Tekashi 6ix9ine. He’s been making tons of headlines recently though his very public beef with Chief Keef and the entire city of Chicago, but X’s passing made him do something he hadn’t been able to do previously: stop and reflect upon his actions.
“Sometimes I feel like I do too much trolling. Sometimes I feel like I do too much,” Tekashi said. “And tomorrow’s not promised, you know what I mean? I feel like someone might get the wrong image of me. You could be here today and be gone tomorrow. X spread nothing but positivity. Always called me on the phone, ‘Danny, are you okay?’ ‘Danny, you’re doing this the right way just try to do more of this. You could call me, talk to me like what’s going on.’… Knowing that he was nothing but positive and nobody wanted to harm him.”
During a recent stop on his European tour, Tekashi decided to pay tribute to his friend at the performance. A video of the event shows Tekashi honoring X before going into a performance of X’s breakout single, “Look At Me!”
“If you black, you white, you latino, you asian, you jewish, whatever, he loved y’all,” Tekashi told the crowd.
The crowd then proceeds to go absolutely buckwild to the song.
