Benjamin Ingrosso shares extended version of “Dance You Off.”

20-year-old singer Benjamin Ingrosso has been signed by Black Butter Records, part of Sony UK. It’s a sign that they believe his entry Dance You Off can win and are ready to launch him as a major star in the UK and across Europe.

Expect to hear Dance You Off on UK radio very soon whether it is a Eurovision Song Contest winner or not. Benjamin Ingrosso is seen as one of Europe’s rising stars. He became a child star in Sweden in 2006, winning Lilla Melodifestivalen (the kids version) and then won Let’s Dance, Sweden’s Strictly Come Dancing, 2014.

At his first technical rehearsal Dance You Off was polished, professional and just like his winning Melodifestivalen performance, identical on screen except for the wide shots of the arena. As neighbouring Norway might say, ‘That’s how you stage a Eurovision winning song’. Dance You Off puts Sweden in contention for an eighth year out of nine. They’ve been top five for four years running and don’t bet against Benjamin Ingrosso being right up there again after the first rehearsal confirmed everything is set up nicely for his Eurovision debut. Performing on his giant sunbed, the florescent tube light style mini-stage design makes this look more like a music video than a stage performance. It’s a common theme to Sweden Eurovision entries. They perfect the performance in the Melodifestivalen semi finals, tighten it in the final, lock down the stage set and ship it to Eurovision.

The song is a strong disco pop entry with effective lyrics including ‘I dug you like you were treasure, So, don’t act like I’m the cruel one when I know you know better’. It is well written and well produced. This routine has already won a semi final and national final in Sweden so we know it can motivate juries and televoters. Sweden has a good chance to finally match Ireland’s record of seven Eurovision Song Contest wins. At the very least a top five is highly likely. They’ve won twice in the last six years with Loreen’s Euphoria and Manz Zelmoerlow’s Heroes in 2015 and they want that seventh win desperately.
