Neymar Will Miss Champions League Match Against Real Madrid; To Undergo Foot Surgery
Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian superstar striker Neymar will be our for a reported 6 to 8 weeks. The player will miss miss out on next week’s crucial Champions League round-of-16 second leg with Real Madrid at Parc des Princes. Neymar suffered a fractured toe towards the end of last Sunday’s 3-0 Ligue 1 win over Marseille, and he will undergo surgery in Brazil later this week.
Paris Saint-Germain has not revealed how long they expect their 26-year old star to be sidelined, although his father indicated to ESPN that the surgery will keep him out of action for six to eight weeks.
PSG released the following statement regarding Neymar’s surgery, per ESPN.
“After an initial treatment period of three days, in line with a strict medical protocol,” a PSG statement said. “A joint decision has been taken between the medical staffs of both PSG and the Brazil national team.
“In accordance with the player, it has been decided that Neymar will undergo surgery in Brazil at the end of this week.

“He will be operated on by doctor Rodrigo Lasmar and accompanied by PSG’s Professor Saillant.”
In 30 games with PSG this season, Neymar has scored 28 goals and 16 assists, including the six goals and three assists he has had in seven Champions League games.
Real Madrid picked up a 3-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League round-of-16 first-leg earlier this month. The two teams will square off again on March 6th.
