After a successful end to his massive “24K Magic World Tour,” Bruno Mars brought some “24K Magic” to living rooms across the nation as part of his CBS primetime special, which aired from the Apollo Theater.
The one-night only extravaganza opened up with a ride through Harlem. As if he needed to promote the event, Mars went door to door with flyers. “Everywhere you go,” he said. “You can feel it. The city’s singing.”
After stopping at hair salons, street corners, and stoops, Mars delivered a show-stopping performance of “24K Magic” on top of the world famous Apollo marquee. Magic was in the air inside of the Apollo too, as Mars and the Hooligans launched into an electrifying set that included “Finesse,” “Perm,” “Chunky,” and “Calling All My Lovelies.”
Last month, Mars spoke about how he crafts his music for the live experience. “That’s my cheat code,” he said. “I think about, ‘Man, I have to perform songs every single night or every other night, I have to write songs that I’ll genuinely have fun performing,’ so half the battle is won. I’m hoping that the audience will see that and it will be contagious and infectious.”
