British soul music star, Seal has released his anticipated new album, Standards, via Republic Records.
With a career pushing three decades, the singer-songwriter’s 10th studio album breathes new life into iconic classics, paying tribute to iconic artists that shaped his formative years including Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and more.
Recorded at the legendary Capitol Studios in Hollywood, CA, he takes a step back in time only to make a giant artistic leap forward. It’s a record he was always meant to make.
“This is the album I have always wanted to make. I grew up listening to music from the Rat Pack era, so recording these timeless tunes was a lifelong dream,” says Seal. “It was a true honor to collaborate with the same musicians who performed with Frank Sinatra and so many of my favorite artists, in the very same studios where the magic was first made – it was one of the greatest days of my recording career.”
The deluxe version of the album also includes bonus holiday tracks “Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting),” and “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow” just in time for the season.
