Coldplay announced in 2016 that they would be releasing an EP in 2017 and the wait is finally over.
“Hello everyone, we’re working on some new songs for next year,” Martin wrote. “It’s called the Kaleidoscope ep. We hope you’re well, love cm.”
Coldplay’s last album A Head Full of Dreams housed two hit singles, “Adventure of a Lifetime” and “Hymn for the Weekend,” the latter which featured a guest spot from Beyoncé. Coldplay also headlined last year’s Super Bowl halftime show with cameos from Beyonce and Bruno Mars.
Martin previously told EW that Dreams felt “a bit like a finale, or a final scene,” but refused to contemplate the thought of breaking up or going solo. “If I ever [go solo], text me and say, Chris, you’ve officially lost it. That would just be awful. I need to be surrounded by people that can tell me to f— off.”
It was announced earlier this week that Coldplay are to perform at a huge free concert in Germany this summer. Joined by Ellie Goulding and Chainsmokers, the band will play at the Global Citizen Festival in Hamburg on July 6. The event is being held on the eve of the 2017 G20 Summit.
Coldplay recently teamed up with The Chainsmokers at the BRIT Awards. The two acts played their new collaboration ‘Something Just Like This’. Frontman Chris Martin also performed a tribute to the late George Michael.
Meanwhile, Coldplay have again denied that they are planning to play two concerts in Israel later this year.
They released a surprise song off the EP titled Hypnotised which came with a lyric video.
They also shared the track list to the EP
