The Walking Dead season 7 premiere was brutal, sad and hard to watch. It was one of the most painful, disgusting, and tragic episodes in the show’s seven season run.
Tonight’s killing was tasteless and gory and gross. It left audiences reeling, myself included, but I feel a little bit like I felt in Game of Thrones, when you-know-who burnt his daughter at the stake. Like the episode left me unclean, dirty, sick to my stomach. I’m not sure if this was great drama, or just torture porn. I’m not sure how to feel, only that it all feels wrong. Maybe that’s the feeling I’m supposed to have. I think I need more time to process.
“Let’s go for a ride,” Negan suggested, leaving the hatchet where Rick could easily get hold of it. When the RV wouldn’t start, Negan dared Rick to “grab the damn axe.” But, alas, the baddie was well-prepared when Rick did so. Before he drove them away, he instructed his captive to think about what happened, what could have happened and, maybe worst of all, “what can still happen.” Returning to the bridge where the Saviors had left a man hanging, Negan tossed what was now “his” axe into a crowd of walkers and ordered Rick at Lucille-point to go fetch.
This has to be the most gruesome premiere ever
