Manager Pep Guardiola admits Bayern Munich could not deal with an early Champions League exit ahead of Wednesday’s quarter-final second leg against Manchester United in Germany. 

The defending champions, who also won the German league and cup double last season, drew the first leg 1-1.

Bastian Schweinsteiger and Javi Martinez are suspended for the tie, while Xherdan Shaqiri is injured.


Guardiola said: “If we are not in the final this club cannot deal with that.”


He added: “If we are not in the Champions League semi-finals it would be a huge mistake for the new manager.


“They won the treble last season and I have got to be in that situation. If I don’t, then it’s not so good.”
