Immigration board blames minister for deaths

The board of Nigeria Immigration Service, has accused the Interior minister, Abba Moro, of being responsible for the botched immigration recruitment exercise, Nation reports.

The board stated that the minister did not seek the approval of the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service before going ahead with exercise.

It said that the board was not involved in the whole process as the minister conducted the test with the assistance of a private consulting organisation named Rexel Technical Global Nigeria limited.

A total of 19 applicants lost their lives while several others were injured in the stampedes that occurred during the exercise across the country.
